Great All Silver Triple-signed (dial, case and movement) antique Longiness Swiss chronograph. Featuring highly prized 1900 Grand Prix- winning "nail-set" movement (case with "medals").
Over 100 years old, serviced and running perfectly. This watch is one of the popular 'trench' conversions where WW1 soldiers converted pocket watches to wrist use- this one was done professionally and is not too big (unlike some of the conversions) for today's casual use (48mm without crown, 55mm with crown, 13mm thick on 22mm new leather band).
Judging by the style of the original black dial (in great condition) and lack of shrapnel guard this was probably used by pilots (maybe Luftwaffe but could also be Allied). The movement is in very good condition, signed Longiness with no sign of corrosion. The case and the dust shield are both stamped with 0.800 proof stamp indicating pure silver and are signed Longiness. Glass is also newer and scratch free.
The overall condition is very good with only discernable blemish visible on the outer cover between 12 and 1 o'clock in the last picture- nothing to take away from this great piece but i want to make sure it is noted.Fantastic gift or an addition to collection that will only appreciate with time.
